Owensboro may give hotel-apartment developer $4.6 million

The city of Owensboro may give Gulfstream Commercial Services-affiliate Riverfront Brio $4.6 million to help construct its planned downtown hotel-apartment complex south of the Owensboro Convention Center, according to documents. A proposed municipal order the Owensboro City Commission will consider at its 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 meeting, would authorize the mayor to sign such an agreement guaranteeing the developer that much money in incentives. But the municipal order also states that the downtown tax increment financing district would reimburse the city’s investment in the project over, at most, its 20-year lifespan, and City Manager Nate Pagan says he expects it to entirely cover the city’s costs.
